Sicily 23

December 23
Work Trip
Visual Diary

In December 2023, for my beloved project of Present Imperfect, I wanted to meet with a famous photographer whom I met on Instagram. As they been travelling Europe, I thought it might be a nice opportunity to show the product in person.

Palermo

My AirBnb, in spacious courtyard.

A perfect place to park the car

In bustling Palermo, Peace of mind.

To explore the city, worries left behind.

Strolled at Sunset. Soft and slow.

Winter here, unlike Berlin’s gray.

Palermo is special. Textures and character. Beautiful souls.

Wait till the end...

Market

As I passed by, I non-verbally asked for permission to take his photo. He nodded and looked into the camera.

Nevertheless, I took a leisurely walk with my Canon AE-1, an analogue gem. Uncertain of the photo quality, I compiled them into a single gallery.

In winter, I could rent a car just for 5 EUR a day.

I often drove in Italy with ease, but arriving in Palermo was a whole new experience. If you've been there, you know exactly what I mean ;-)

Cefalù

From co-working, tired and worn.

I drove to Cefalu, a town high-born.

Arrived late, woke to a stunning sight.

Forty euros for a perfect sunrise light.

I woke up to a stunning view I hadn't seen the night before and then set out for Cefalù.

Agrigentu & Temples

Akragas is located in ancient Greece. The monuments of the past transport the mind and imagination to a different era.

It might have been less technology back then, but no less wisdom.

In Italy, beauty unfolds in every texture and structure.

It's the imperfections that breathe life and character.

Gangi

Before my trip to Sicily, I shared my itinerary with a friend from there. Their response was simply:

Why Gangi?

On the right, there are some photos

which I've shot on my analogue camera.

Gangi is a little town.

Offering a stunning view from afar.

Its narrow, stony streets were deserted at this time of year, adding to its serene beauty.
